Small answers for real family life
Parent burnout when your child has extra needs
Carrying a lot for a long time can leave you depleted. You deserve support, not another list to succeed at.
Step 1
Notice what the load is costing you: rest, patience, connection or time for basic needs. This is a reflection, not a test or diagnosis.
Step 2
Choose one task to postpone, share or simplify. A two-minute pause can offer breathing space, but cannot fix a lack of practical support.
Step 3
Ask someone trusted for something specific: a meal, collecting shopping or taking over one task.
Step 4
Try “This is hard, and I am doing what I can.” If strain is affecting daily life or feels unmanageable, seek individual support.
Hearth offers wellbeing self-help, not medical care or a crisis service. These ideas are not an assessment and cannot predict what will work for your child.
